Review on Onich Hotel
Billed as the Onich Hotel & Lochside Gardens, this family-run hotel is perfectly placed with luxuriant grounds and a terrace looking out onto Loch Linnhe (you can eat alfresco when the weather allows). Otherwise, soak up the rays and the views from the sun lounge.
The restaurant also has a superb outlook, if a full fine-dining experience is required. Scottish seafood and game show up well on the dinner menu, which might open with smoked salmon and new potato salad with pesto dressing or chicken liver parfait with apple and pear chutney. Mains could cover anything from roast rib of beef or honey and thyme-marinated chicken with Puy lentils to seared lamb loin wrapped in chicken and basil mousse, while desserts have included raspberry crème brûlée with buttered shortbread.
Alternatively, a decent pub-style menu of lighter dishes is served in the hotel bar (think steak and ale pie or bangers and mash), along with local beers.
