Review on Ze Kitchen Galerie
Ze Kitchen Galerie is a Michelin starred restaurant located on the Left Bank just a short stroll from the River Seine. The owner and chef, William Ledeuil, trained under the legendary Guy Savoy at Les Bouquinistes and was voted chef of the year in the 2010 edition of the Gault Millau gourmet guide. This trendy restaurant, come gallery, with its open kitchen is the setting for Ledeuil's love of contemporary art, and every year it plays hosts to four or five exhibitions by renowned artists with whom he has an affinity.
With regard to his cuisine, he has three basic rules; first is nature as in the ingredient and its flavours, second is painting, the natural colours of the ingredients and lastly architecture, the natural shapes of the ingredients and the geometric forms of the dishes they're served in. His inventive cuisine where he favours Asian ingredients might start with tamara, ginger, sesame, grilled squid or Thai Pistou with gnocchi pasta, parmesan cream and green olive condiment. Creative dishes continue the theme in mains of grilled monkfish, zucchini marmalade and thai sauce or comfit veal sheek, tamarind, black olive tamarind and thai jus. There is no let-up when it comes to the dessert stage, where you are offered plum cake, ginger and jasmine ice cream or roasted white peach, lemongrass with melon sorbet. The excellent wine list comes with several offerings by the glass, including champagne.
