Review on Hotel du Vin & Bistro
Just a short stroll from Poole Harbour, Hotel du Vin & Bistro is housed in the former Mansion House, a stunning Virginia-creeper clad Georgian building. The venue has been renovated in classic HDV fashion and features an updated elegant and contemporary style, with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The bistro is decked out with dark leather chairs and stained-wood tables, alongside a buzzy bar area and a pretty courtyard for dining al fresco during the warmer months.
The kitchen is focussed on making the very best of the local larder, using fresh organic ingredients where possible for its classic French bistro menu. On offer amongst the starters you could choose chicken liver parfait served with toasted brioche and raisin chutney or pan seared scallops with an artichoke and pistachio purée and a pancetta vinaigrette. Main courses take in an excellent selection of steaks, dry aged on the bone for a minimum of 28 days and served with frites and your choice of sauce or alternatively there's lemon sole baked in a shallot and grape sauce. Desserts home in the classics with apple tarte tatin and crème Normande or rhubarb crumble and custard.
The wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe and their expert sommelier is always on hand, ready to advise, guide, match or recommend the perfect wine to complement your food choice.
