Review on Reco de Randa
Reco de Randa, is a charming Catalonian country house and restaurant, built at the end of the 17th century from stone typical of Mallorcan architecture, part of the building originally served as a nuns retreat for a number of years. Set high in the picturesque mountain village of Randa between Llucmajor and Algaida, the hotel's restaurant is well known for its fine culinary specialities. The interior has been sympathetically renovated whilst retaining many of the building's original features. During the chilly winter the dining rooms are cosy with lighted fires and in summer months guests can sit back and relax on their terraces, whilst taking in the panoramic views of Mallorca.
The highly regarded restaurant offers a splendid five course tasting menu which is an excellent way to sample some of Mallorca's traditional dishes. Otherwise choose a starter of beef carpaccio with parmesan cheese and rucola from the main menu, followed by a main course of steamed salmon with vegetables or the succulent wood-fire roasted sucking pig. There is a line up of desserts including apple tart with vanilla ice cream, or maybe choose the cream profiteroles with chocolate.
