Review on Brooks Country House
Surrounded by acres of luscious parkland, Brooks Country House is a commanding Georgian property situated in a wonderful, enchanting setting, just off the A49 between Ross-on-Wye and Hereford. Guests can enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the cosy bar with faux antlers on the wall, before proceeding to the restaurant lined with bookshelves and views of the glorious surrounding countryside.
The kitchen runs in tandem with the seasons and locally sourced ingredients such as Herefordshire beef and Welsh lamb are predominant. Kick off with smoked chicken, shaved fennel, mint and orange salad before a main course of Herefordshire 8oz rib eye steak with homemade chips and garlic butter or roast fillet of hake on a butter bean, red pepper and tomato. To finish enjoy a dark chocolate tart with a sweet sherry soaked raisin or lemon posset with lavender shortbread.
