Review on Vine Leaf
Normandy cream of oyster and cider soup, Thai-spiced beef fillet with noodle salad, smoked chicken, mushroom and basil risotto, and medallions of deep-fried rock turbot with crispy Chinese seaweed are just some of the eclectic inventions you might find posted on the menu outside this likeable restaurant at the end of a converted close.
Also look out for the grilled seafood platter (a mighty collation of crustaceans and shellfish), the eight-hour lamb (‘oh-so-slow-cooked' fillet served with rösti and Mediterranean vegetables au pistou) and desserts ranging from brown sugar Pavlova to bananas with butterscotch sauce, banana bread and cinnamon ice cream.
Artist David Joy’s ‘Scapes’ decorate the dining room and there’s a charming patio for al fresco meals.
