The Landgasthof Bären in Utzenstorf is a family-run restaurant that prides itself on its hospitality. There is a statue of a bear sitting over the entrance and inside there are cosy rooms which are popular with regulars and visitors. The food is prepared by a father-and-son culinary duo who take immense pride in the fact that food is prepared using only the freshest of seasonal ingredients. Look for starters of duet of duck liver with a rhubarb compote, a terrine with Sauternes jelly or sashimi of tuna and salmon, thinly sliced and marinated accompanied by avocado mousse. Follow on with a main course of steamed fillet of sole and grilled rock lobster or maybe Chateaubriand for two. To finish try the house speciality of apple pie or pannacotta with mango. There is a quality wine list and in the summer you can sit outside in the garden.
