Review on Blue Sky on York Beach
In the heart of the York Beach, on the Short Sands, a historic renaissance has begun. The rehabilitation of The Atlantic House was undertaken in November of 2006. Blue Sky on York Beach fills the second floor with a warm and welcoming design and a spectacular menu executed by internationally recognized chef, Lydia Shire. Old Maine favorites from both sea and land are updated with her style and signature. Lydia also breaks tradition by introducing "Lobster Deep Fried in Housemade Lard" and "Hot Raised Potato Doughnuts". Cream colored banquettes and booths are scattered throughout the room. The floors are red oak and the ceiling is white-washed poplar. The double-sided wood burning fireplace warms both the lounge and the dining room. In summertime, the porch opens to 60 seats and the bar is extended out into the breezes. The custom-built wood burning oven is circled by a food bar which seats sixteen guests.
