Review on Restaurante Andreu Genestra
Andreu Genestra opened his eponymous restaurant in 2012 within the Hotel Predi Son Jaumell, located in a remote rural location on the outskirts of Capdepera in the east of Mallorca. Dating back to the 17th century this charming hotel has been completely renovated and refurbished and has private access to the nearby Cala Agulla cove. The restaurant has a minimalist décor, with a lovely view of the nearby Capdepera Castle from the terrace when dining al fresco.
Andreu Genestra has climbed the culinary ladder working at acclaimed kitchens such as Read's Hotel under Marc Fosh, as well as sharpening his knives at the legendary El Bulli with Ferran Adrià . His seasonal menu makes excellent use of the abundance of supplies from the 6,000 square metres of the estate’s land, and his creative cooking has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star. Diners are offered the choice of two tasting menus with the option of wine pairing. The experience starts off with delicious xeixa bread served on hot stones and broken by the waiter at the table. Then you can expect dishes along the lines of suckling pig and ensaimada croquette, followed by a warm salad of Majorcan vegetables casserole with candied bacon. Next there's sepia with tiger nuts sauce before St Peter fish with potato noodles and grilled asparagus. Majorcan suckling pig, mole of carob with summer truffle and radish proceeds their popular signature dessert of sweet chocolate flowerpot for two or you could opt for the refreshing mint, passion fruit and raspberry.
