Review on The Half Moon
Jodie Kidd English fashion model, race car driver, and television personality has opened her own pub, The Half Moon set in the peaceful village of Kirdford, opposite the St John the Baptist Church and located between Wisborough Green and Petworth in West Sussex. A lovely tile-hung Grade II listed building that can trace its history back to the 15th century, it has been beautifully restored whilst retaining the charm and character of it's original features. Still very much the heart of the local community, drinkers can congregate at the smart bar with its copper pumps, or take a seat in the pretty garden when the sun shines.
Produce is sourced from trusted local farmers, as well as their own kitchen garden for a British menu with international influences. As a curtain raiser why not order the chicken terrine, golden raisin puree, curried emulsion and homemade brioche or if fish is your fancy, salmon and langoustine ravioli, shell fish cream, peas and broad beans. Mains courses move into the realm of Stonebass, basil mashed potato, chive butter sauce and poached fennel or roast chump of new season lamb, ratatouille, sweetbreads and Jersey royals. Desserts are worth saving room for with a blackberry cheesecake paired with blackberry sorbet or a warm creamed rice pudding, honey glazed nuts and poached golden sultanas.
The wine list roams the globe inspired by Jodie's travels and they have their very own beer on tap, The Half Moon Eclipse, as well as classic and signature cocktails. Check out their website for charity events, quiz nights and Jodie's curry nights.
