Review on Pentonbridge Inn
In a remote location Pentonbridge Inn nestles in the tiny hamlet of Penton, close to the Scottish Border and just 15 miles from Carlisle. A former coaching inn, it has undergone an extensive refurbishment with interiors designed by BusbyWebb using natural materials such as timber, slate and stone, whilst retaining the original wooden beams. The light and airy stone-walled room has a statement wood burning fireplace, with smart chairs and banquette seating set against dark wood furniture on a modern wood floor.
Twice baked cheese soufflé, spinach and parmesan cream proceeds a main course of 8oz ribeye steak served with grilled mushroom, triple cooked chips and garden salad or from the sea, salmon fish cakes, parsley fish cream, spinach and fries. To finish indulge in desserts like toffee apple crumble paired with salted caramel ice cream or chocolate delice, orange textures and orange ice cream. In the evening the kitchen pulls out all the stops for a very tempting tasting menu.
There are nine delightful bedrooms, each named after a Border Reivers clan infamous for raiding and marauding their neighbours, should you wish to extend your visit to the Pentonbridge Inn.
