Review on Tess de Mar
Set in the heart of the rural market town of Campos, Sa Creu Nova Art Hotel & Spa opened in June 2017, beautifully converted from three town houses, it boasts two fine dining restaurants, Japanese Omekase restaurant Kairiku and Tess de Mar. The latter has it's own entrance and operates from breakfast through to lunch, opening again for dinner, when guests can choose from an a la carte or tasting menu. It's a sleekly groomed room with full length glass doors opening out onto a lovely terrace for al fresco dining.
Taking helm of the kitchen is Juan Ocampo, who previously held the position of chef de cuisine at the 5-star Hyatt Regency in Dubai. Making excellent use of the Josper grill, he has a zero-kilometre philosophy regarding fresh produce, vegetables come from their own garden and he also works closely with local producers. Expect the likes of white fish ceviche, sea urchin, sweet potato and citric sauce amongst the starters before moving on to a main course of lamb cheeks, grape leaves ravioli, goat cheese and spice dust.
Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Filipe da Silva is on hand to guide you through the wine list, which has more than 20 of their most exclusive wines served by the glass.
