Review on Pensons at the Netherwood Estate
Pensons is set within the historic 1,200 Netherwood Estate on the beautiful Herefordshire - Worcestershire border in the village of Stoke Bliss. Named after the farm that once surrounded it, Pensons is housed in a stunning converted barn with sandstone and red brick walls. Inside it has a contemporary edge, whilst paying homage to its history with treasures from a bygone age adorning the walls. Full length dark blue bespoke floor to ceiling windows flood the dining room with plenty of natural light, and an open kitchen adds theatre to proceedings. Local artisans have played their part as well with the natural-dye napkins and the blue chair upholstery, the spiral wicker lampshades are from Jenny Crisp, and blacksmith Joel created the handmade steak knives from a fallen walnut branch on the Estate.
The kitchen is keen to make the most of the produce from Netherwood and the surrounding countryside, with ingredients sourced from their own kitchen garden and local farmers. Menus will change with the seasons and Lee will offer an a la carte menu alongside a tasting menu showcasing his creative talents. The restaurant was delighted to receive a prestigious Michelin star in the 2020 edition of the Guide.
Should you wish to extend your stay and explore the surrounding countryside further, the Netherwood Estate has two beautiful properties, The Hyde and The Freeth.
