Review on Casa Fofó
Casa Fofó is a small neighbourhood eatery located on Sandringham Road in the heart of Hackney, just a short walk from Hackney Downs station. It's the first solo project from Italian chef Adolfo De Cecco, the former Head Chef of the critically acclaimed Pidgin restaurant, whose CV includes Michelin starred restaurants Galvin at Windows and Tetsuya in Sydney. Named after his father, the restaurant has a pared back décor with exposed brick and white washed walls, small wooden tables overlooking the open kitchen, as well as a large communal table in the basement. On sunny days guests can take advantage of the small garden for dining al fresco.
Adolfo showcases an eclectic six course tasting menu that changes daily reflecting impeccable produce from local, trusted and sustainable suppliers. Charcuterie is made in house and they also produce their own ratafia, an Italian fruit liqueur flavoured with almonds which is served as a digestif. Dishes are served on ceramics crafted by Sam Marks and could include offerings in the shape of middle white pork neck and peanut or Mah Kwan pepper croqueline, shio koji mascarpone, lovage and berries, as well as rhubarb, black bean and chilli.
To accompany the food there's a wine list that focuses on natural and low intervention wines.
