Review on Parva Farmouse
Parva Farmhouse, a popular guest room and restaurant in the picturesque village of Tintern, just five miles north of Chepstow, is located in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Occupying a quaint 17th century former farmhouse, with views of the River Wye and just a mile from the historic Tintern Abbey, it is no surprise that new owners, Marta and Roger Brook have garnered glowing reviews since taking over. This is their first solo venture having previously worked at the highly acclaimed Walnut Inn near Abergavenny, Roger manned the stoves and Marta was Restaurant Manager.
The restaurant in keeping with the building has a cosy traditional décor with a timber beamed ceiling and a large inglenook fireplace. Roger's concise dinner menu changes regularly and is based around fresh local ingredients producing highly accomplished dishes. A starter of scallops with pig's cheek and sweetcorn sauce, proceeds a main course of loin and boudin of French rabbit with Jerusalem artichoke and girolles, finishing perhaps with a peach tart paired with cherry ripple ice cream.
There are eight charming guest rooms should you wish to extend your stay and explore the glorious surrounding countryside further.
