Review on Goram & Vincent
The Avon Gorge hotel is located in Clifton Village a lovely suburb of Bristol, just a five-minute drive from the city centre, it has undergone a £16million transformation to become the 18th property within the Hotel du Vin brand. At the heart of the hotel is its restaurant Goram & Vincent, named after a local myth about two giants who fell in love with the same woman. The glass-walled restaurant has a contemporary design with banquette seating and red upholstered chairs, with the main attraction the stunning views of the Avon Gorge and Brunel's magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge, which was completed in 1864.
Goram & Vincent is billed as a smoke house with the custom-made smoker, coal fired grills and bespoke clay ovens taking centre stage in the open kitchen. Kick off proceedings with a guinea fowl and black pudding terrine paired with Granny Smith apple compote and toasted sourdough or from the sea, salt and pepper squid, spiced paprika crème fraîche and pickled chilli. When it comes to main courses you could opt for the 30 day aged beef rib from the smoker, served with new potato and watercress salad or breaded langoustine scampi with tartare sauce and fries. Desserts are lively ideas like Valhrona chocolate mousse and passion fruit jelly or a rum roasted spiced pineapple with coconut cream.
