Opened by Gino Santin in 1984, this chic Belgravia Italian restaurant is now lovingly overseen by daughter Laura: it remains a top-end favourite with international jet-setters, corporate clients, politicians, celebs and others who appreciate its mix of professionalism, elegance and affable good humour.
The kitchen continues to deliver classical Italian food with a strong Venetian slant, 'unspoiled by elaborate cooking methods.' Ingredients are chosen with care and the kitchen keeps its eyes on the seasons. Homemade pasta is always a good bet, and the choice might range from tagliolini with fresh Cornish crab to spinach and Ricotta ravioli. Other dishes worth ordering are Venetian-style grilled scallops, lamb chops with white wine, rosemary and grapes, poached sea bass with herb and balsamic dressing, and - for dessert - traditional Roman apple fritters.
In summer, the Mediterranean terrace comes into its own for al fresco meals: sit in sunshine surrounded by olive trees, vines and pots of herbs.
