Review on Alyn Williams at the Westbury
Alyn Williams at The Westbury is the flagship restaurant situated in the heart of the Westbury Hotel, famous as the only luxury hotel on Bond Street, right in the centre of London’s classiest shopping district. The hotel actually takes its name from Long Island’s renowned polo ground, appropriately, the Polo Bar is a must-visit destination with legendary status and an enviable reputation for serving some of the smartest cocktails in town.
Following the departure of Alyn Williams, the elegant restaurant with its beautiful glass encased wine room taking centre stage, is now in the hands of Head Chef Charlie Taylor. The kitchen sends out inventive French cuisine showing creativity and craftsmanship with a choice of menus including a tasting menu, a la carte including a separate vegetarian menu, together with a well priced lunch menu. Kick off with a starter of grouse, red pepper, goat's milk curds, watermelon and mint before a main course of Guernsey bass, watercress, swede and truffle or maybe Herdwick lamb, fennel, lamb bacon and parmesan. When it comes to desserts you might see chocolate mousse, peanut butter ice cream and caramel or banana, lapsang tea, coconut, saffron and condensed milk.
There is an excellent wine list to complement the food and service led by Giancarlo Princigalli is attentive and professional. The beautiful Aspen Room is available for private dining, together with the unique Wine Salon where up to eight guests can dine, surrounded by some of the world's finest wines.
