Review on Quorn Grange Hotel, Buddon Restaurant
Set amid eight acres of manicured gardens and lush grounds on the edge of Charnwood Forest, Quorn Grange is a classic Shires country house that has been sympathetically renovated to offer guests a pleasing mix of old and new.
Formal evening meals are served in the Buddon Restaurant, which boasts panoramic views of the gardens. Local and seasonal produce show up well on the regularly changing menus. You might begin with jumbo wild mushroom ravioli, creamed leeks and Parmesan or goats' cheese and chervil tart with red onion jam, before pan-fried loin of lamb with wholegrain mustard mash, wilted baby spinach and reed wine sauce or roast monkfish with butternut squash and basil dressing.
Classic desserts cover everything from strawberry mille-feuille to Tia Maria cheesecake with mint chocolate sauce, and the wine list provides sound drinking at fair prices. Sunday lunch is a traditional roast carvery.
