Review on Patara
One of six London restaurants belonging to the international Patara chain, this is a striking, upmarket venue complete with chiselled sandstone walls, ethnic sculptures, ornately carved palm wood columns and luxurious red seating. Clever ambient illumination comes from candles and spotlights, and staff help to create a relaxed vibe.
Like its siblings, it offers Thai food that is authentic, ambitious and innovative when it matters. Staples such as fishcakes, tom yung goong soup and pad Thai noodles are spot-on and the kitchen also delivers specialities like Thai pomelo salad with sweet tamarind dressing accompanied by smoked salmon, black cod with yellow bean sauce, and prawns in Kaffir lime and turmeric-scented curry with betel nut leaves.
There are six other branches in the capital located in Berners Street W1, Knightsbridge, Soho, Oxford Circus, Hampstead and Wimbledon.
