Review on The Refinery at Regent's Place
Seven years after the launch of The Refinery in Southwark, the Drake & Morgan group opened their second Refinery this time in Regent's Place, part of the modern office complex to the north of Euston Road by Warren Street. Located just a short stroll from Regent's Park it includes a bar, restaurant, deli and al fresco dining on the spacious terrace decked out with potted plants.
The interiors have been designed by London based Fusion Design and Architecture with natural timbers, reclaimed brick and floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the area with natural light. High ceilings and an industrial vibe are a backdrop to several different spaces to drink and eat with low leather chairs draped with faux furs and hides, or tall bar stalls set against the statement bar made from solid oak sleepers.
Open all day from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, or just pop in for a pick-you-up cup of coffee or a relaxing glass of wine. Carefully sourced ingredients put on a good show in the kitchen, witness English asparagus, poached egg and hollandaise sauce amongst the starters or opt for one of their popular sharing boards such as the Suffolk farm charcuterie, consisting of a selection of cured meats of salami, chorizo and venison. Other possibilities are various cuts of steak served with chips and watercress and your choice of sauce or maybe pan fried brill, baby leeks and brown shrimp butter. To finish there's salted caramel and plum sundae with honeycomb or a zingy lemon tart paired with crème fraiche.
The Refinery has a comprehensive wine list with ample options available by the glass, premium spirits and beers, as well as an innovative cocktail menu.
