Review on BOBO Social
A short walk from Goodge Street underground station, BOBO Social occupies a smart terrace house conversion on bustling Charlotte Street. The small restaurant is laid out over two floors in a minimalist style with a neutral palette. Rustic, solid oak tables with white legs are set against white country chairs padded with grey cushions, vintage mirrors adorn the walls and filament light bulbs dangle from the ceiling.
The kitchen showcases upscale burgers, small plates and cocktails in a relaxed ambience. Meat is supplied from one of London's top butchers, Flock & Herd and their burgers are made from rare breed beef such as Dexter, Longhorn and Red Lincoln. They are then cooked in a Kopa charcoal oven using Lumpwood charcoal along with single species wood such as Cherry, English Plum and Hickory, resulting in succulent smoked meat.
Expect the likes of prawn ceviche, Serrano chilli, lime, mint and cucumber or spicy BBQ organic pork ribs, apple slaw with toasted pumpkin seeds amongst the starters. Burgers are served in a buttermilk bun with the Bobo set consisting of lettuce, tomatoes, fresh red onions and Bobo burger sauce. Among the delicious choices there's 6oz rare breed British beef and British chorizo, Manchego cheese, tomato and chilli salsa, fresh chillies with Jalepeno Mayo or for a fish option there's a lobster and crab burger, dill caper cream, Wasabi fried onions lettuce and tomato. Homemade desserts are served in cute Kilner jars, enjoy white chocolate and ginger cheesecake or dark and milk chocolate mousse with salted caramel.
There's a concise wine list to complement the food together with zingy cocktails such as Ring -a -Roses, Hendricks Gin, peach and lychee liqueur, lemon, egg white and peach bitters.
