Review on Caravan City
In the heart of London's Square Mile, Caravan City is set in the Bloomberg Arcade, the fourth outing from the team behind this popular concept with siblings in Exmouth Market, King's Cross and Bankside. Designed by Caravan Co-founder & Creative Director, Laura Harper-Hinton and Architect and New Zealand born Interior Designer Rebecca Richwhite, the cavernous building is laid out over three levels. Featuring an industrial décor with reference to the Victorian streetscape, there's two dining rooms, a coffee and cocktail bar, together with a mezzaine area offering a quiet workspace during the day, and a private dining area in the evening.
It operates as an all-purpose, all day eating place with its own dining terrace overlooking the lovely water water installations and covered arcade. The lunch and dinner menus consists of small and large plates from across the globe, designed for sharing. New to the menu at this restaurant is their Fermented and Raw and Salads and Grains, where you can enjoy dishes such as smashed cucumbers, soy tahini and szechuan chilli oil or seabass crudo, truffled soy, lime, umeboshi and chilli. Elsewhere there's a selection of pizzas or dishes in the shape of crispy pork belly, tamarind caramel, celery, shallots, cucumber and coriander, or from the sea baked cod, chat masala dhal, lime pickle and cumin yoghurt. Close the show with coconut panna cotta, blood orange and hazelnut brittle or ginger cake, hibiscus poached pear, rum syrup and clotted cream.
The wine list is an international slate featuring a good spread across the world including four styles on tap, as well as local beers, signature cocktails and their standout coffee.
