Review on Brasserie ABode Chester
ABode Chester located on the former site of the Cheshire Constabulary headquarters, is the latest property of Andrew Brownsword's expanding empire of boutique hotels. This is the first new-build property and as such has enabled the group to encompass the ABode concept and vision from the ground floor up.
The Brasserie is located on the 5th floor with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Open all day the kitchen offers a crowd pleasing menu that caters for all tastes and options, be it a full blown three course meal or a quick bite to eat. Typical offerings on the a la carte menu could be roast quail, leg and breast, confit onion and pickled grape or flamed mackerel, pickled cucumber and avocado purée amongst the starters. Follow on with roast pollock, leek fondue, mussels and chicken jus or stone bass, Bourguignon sauce, crispy parsley and pomme aligot. Desserts tempt with milk chocolate delice, confit lime and honeycomb or apple and calvados cremeux, raisen purée, granny smith and cider ice cream. For a real treat you could choose the luxury tasting menu with the option of wine pairing.
There is an excellent wine list displayed in the glass-fronted, temperature-controlled wine room that features more than 150 references. During warmer months enjoy the outside terrace that directly overlooks Chester's famous racecourse.
Informal dining takes place in the Lounge Bar and you could enjoy a glass or two of fizz in the Champagne Bar.
