Review on The Swan
'We are staying true to the "pub" bit of gastropub', say the owners of the Swan - a delightful boozer with a vast garden, a children's play area and lots of interesting stuff to eat and drink. Those with a thirst take full advantage of the three real ales on offer - not to mention the fascinating list of carefully chosen wines.
If food is required, the kitchen can deliver vibrant dishes with strong Mediterranean leanings. The monthly menu could open with mackerel rillettes, toast, fennel and mango salsa or Pugliese 'bruschetta al pomodoro'. After that, you might fancy penne with Italian sausage ragù, braised rabbit in white wine with polenta croûtons or roast salmon fillet with spiced potatoes, chilli, ginger and coriander-grilled spring onions. To close the show, how about Donald's chocolate and almond cake or rhubarb and apple crumble?
